The traditional symbols of the village of Muránska Dlhá Lúka:
The village's own official stamp dates from the mid 17th century. The original stamp imprint dating from 1656 can be found in the collection of stamp imprints in the Regional archive in Budapest (the Capital of Hungary). Showing the text of "Sigilum D. Lukiucensis 1656" and picture of a batch of ears of corn, a few flowers, a crown and some farming tools, this renaissance stamp has got a great historical value. Another stamp of the village, which can also be found in the same archive, dates from the late 18th century. This village stamp carries similar text and features. Showing the text of "Sigilum Muranhozuretiensis", there is a clear picture of ears of corn, four flowers and a few farming tools. Both stamps clearly show the agricultural background of the village.
The ears of cereals were used for agricultural purposes and secured the food (bread) to the villagers. In the Greek and Latin mythology, the ears of cereals are the symbols of summer and prosperity. Even the Greek Goddess of farmers known as Ceres had these ears arranged on her hair. By the way, isn't her name similar to what we now call cereals? In the Christian faith, the ears of corn are the symbols of new life, resurrection and can be found in some of the parts of the Bible. The flowers on the stamp represent the beauty, greenery of the spring months, new crop, new life. All these symbols are creating the peaceful picture of the village life and represent peace and prosperity.
The motives of the older stamp of the village was used to produce the present official stamp of Muránska Dlhá Lúka.
The village's own coat of arms is very similar to the official stamp of the village. It shows the picture of golden batch of ears of corn situated between some farming tools and a couple of white flowers on the sides of the coat of arms. This motif is located on the blue background field.
