Rozložná-

The village of Rozložná is situated in the north - western part of the natural complex known as Slovenský kras and in the valley of the local stream called Rozložnica. The village is located in the unspoilt and tranquil nature region surrounded by 1 259 hectares of farming land and dense woods. Many species of wild animals and beautiful plants, bushes and trees can be found around this quiet and sleepy Slovak village.
The earliest written reference of Rozložná dates from 1258 when the village consisted only of a few shepherd's settlements by the local stream.
The village was originally situated by the simple set of roads known as "rázsochy". This term was later used to give a name to this village.
In 1548 the village was owned by wealthy man of the Gemer region, Mr František Bebek. The major source of living for the village inhabitants during 16th and 17th century was farming and mining, many villagers were still shepherds.
In 1611 the wooden pulpit was built in the village graveyard on the top of the hill known as Veterník. The old remains of stone buildings and graves were found in this area.
The village's own coat of arms and sealing stamp were made in 17th century. The local stone church and nearby parish were built in 1768.
The new parish priest Mr. Ladislav Botto arrived to the village of Rozložná in 1840 and decided to built new parish home and buy several religious paintings. His son, a famous historian and nationalist Julius Botto was born in the new parish in 1848. Julius established the first Slovak Grammar School where he became a teacher for several years. He was also keen on commercial activities and established the First Commercial Union called "Jednota".
In 1918, after World War I. the village became known as Rozložná.
