The village of Vesele is situated in the Trnava region, just off the road from Trnava to Nove Mesto. The earliest written reference of Vesele dates from 2nd February 1310, however many archaeological findings suggest that the area of the village has been inhabited since 2000 BC. One of the most important historical findings was the skeletal collection from the Bronze Age.
The Hungarian name of Vesele – Wygwar – meaning “Happy Castle”, is the original name under which the village has been known. The historical documentation reflects the existence the medieval castle in the area. Over the past centuries, the village itself belonged to several wealthy family clans. The present life of this small Slovakian village, as well as last few decades have been connected with a hamlet of Tapkove which became a part of Vesele in 1960.
Since late 16th century, the villagers were involved in farming and agricultural activities. Growing fresh produce including many varieties of fruit and vegetables as well as small production of honey was very popular occupation in those days. The whole area was ideal for growing fresh produce and it made this village well known in the whole region. Farmer Jan Skublic has even established the fruit farm in the village which made Vesele even more popular amongst fruit and vegetable wholesalers.
