Village Vyšná Slaná is situated on the South-east part of Slovak Rudohorie and in the valley of river Slaná in 491 meters above the sea level under roof of the mountain Radzim (199m). The first lattering mention about village is from the year 1362. Inhabitants entertained extraction and processing of iron ore in mines, haulage and a part of settlement created Walachs. It belonged to Gemesto-malohontska area, lately to family Bebek and from beginning of 18, century to Andrássy.
In village is situated evangelic church of late Gothic style, which was built in year 1506. It was trim in Renaissance style in 17, century and in Baroque style in 18, century. In village is situated curia from year 1700. In this village lived enlightened poet and philosopher Michael Steigel. And Slovak writer Fraňo Král worked here in years 1928 – 1930 like a teacher. Action of his novel „Barring road“ occurs exactly here.
In village kept a lot of folklore habits and traditions. Today’s Vyšná Slaná offer to recreants and lovers of sport beautiful nature under Radzim, from which top is wonderful sight at Kráľova Hoľa and High Tatras. In the surrounding forests is a lot of forest fruits (mushrooms, billberies, and raspberry).

For lovers of sport are in winter available 2 ski-lifts TATRAPOMAS and in summer-time swimming pool in nearby vacation spot called Julius as well as terrains for mountain cycling and tourism.
In close surrounding is situated Dobšinská ice cave, water pool Palcmanská maša, manor house Betliar, castle Krásna hôrka and many others tourist attractions. Vacation department called Julius (84 beds), cottage Radzim (40 beds), as well as entrepreneurs direct in village offers accommodation.

One of these distinctive areas of Slovak Rudohorie is the mountain Radzim (963m) under which is situated vacation department Julius (capacity 84 beds in 4-bed´s rooms). Cottage Radzim – Vyšná Slaná

In closeness of cottage is situated ski-track, which is long 1100 metres, wide 150 metres, 2 ski-lifts TATRAPOMA H-130, long 950metres with capacity 850 persons per hour and TATRAPOMAP, long 400 metres, with capacity 400 persons per hour.
