The village of Dlhá Ves is situated in the southern part of the Rožňava District, near the border with Hungaria (border Domica - Aggtelek). The village is also located in the heart of the protected area known as Slovenský kras.
The most attractive place to see and visit is the cave of Domica which became of the the Slovak natural properties to be put on the list of the world natural heritage of UNESCO.

Historical background of the village:
The earliest written reference of Dlhá Ves dates to 1332.
The local Evangelical church was built in the late 18th century (1792). The major feature of the church - the organ - dates to 1795 and was made by one of the best organ makers Master Tr. Ed. Petznik.

There is a monument in the village churchyard which commemorates tragic deaths of those who participated in the World War I. and II.
General information about the village:
There are 671 inhabitants currently living in the village. 88 per cent of them are of the Hungarian nationality, the rest of 12 per cent of the village population is of the Slovak nationality.

Farming and agricultural activities have always been the main source of living for villagers. Numerous sorts of cereals are grown in the area and there are also a few animal farms.
The local primary school offers education in both languages - Hungarian and Slovak.
The village facilities include three general stores, sweet shop and two pubs. There is also a football pitch, table tennis hall, play field for children and a small park with a water feature.

Several cycle paths go directly through the village and follow to the nearby villages of Kečovo, Silická Brezovica and Silica.
