Gemerská Hôrka - the gate to the Slovak Karst, is situated between the Slovak Karst and the Rimavská Basin on the floodplain and terrace of the Slaná River.
It was first time mentioned in 1413, agriculture. In 1883 at the site of the water mill a pulp mill was established, in 1992 the mill was replaced by a modern factory for toiletries (firm SCA).

The area has caves, karst formations, valuable animal and plant life - perfect for tourism. There are opportunities for swimming and accommodation facilities.
