Village Strelníky - is 28km away from Banská Bystrica and is situated at 666m above sea
level.
There live 812 inhabitants. The former name of the village was Šajba, then renamed in
1948 - Strelníky.

For visitors can be suitable for rest a nice adapted square with banks and a fountain,
there is a new church, a modern elementary school, a kindergarten with its facilities
and with an adapted area for children's summer games and in the wintertime there is an
ice rink for ice-skating for children and adults.
Village has its sporting area which consists of football pitch, volleyball field and
modern swimming pools for bathing with a water filter.
Near the village are located two ski-lifts used by visitors of wide vicinity for skiing.
Points of interest, remarkables and rarities
Through the village leads a cycle-path from Detva, through Poniky, Povrazník to
Strelníky and to Hrb and back.
Village owns two family houses which offer accommodation for 10 persons where food can
be prepared.
In the surroundings of village is spread a beautiful nature for walking and there are
favourable conditions for mushroom collecting and collecting of various woodland fruits.
Area of herdman's huts is developed because of tasting cheese, a very good boiled
sheep's whey, and smoked cheese.
In the village many folk producers do business in production and sale of utilitarian
and gift ceramics and production of jugs and also other products of wood. It is
preserved manual weaving of clothes, weaving of linen.
